And here is the lady that handed Satoko Shinashi her first loss, Hisae Watanabe. Hisae was born on October 21, 1980 in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. She has been competeing since 2002 and is a former DEEP Ladies' Lightweight champion with a MMA record of 19-6-0.
This entry is different from our usual fitness models, bodybuilders and physical trainers. Satoko Shinashi is a female Japanese mixed martial arts fighter. Of course no one doubts that MMA fighters are fit, a lot of the fitness models here and on my other fitness blogs use MMA training as one of their ways to stay in shape.
Satoko was born on January 29, 1977 in Tokyo, Japan. (Hmmm...thats me, Liza Kampstra and Satoko all born on January 29th.) She uses Judo, Sambo, and jiu-jitsu in her matches, and is known for her armbars. Actually she is 28-2- 2 ( her website lists her record at 30-2-2 ) in fighting with 22 of those wins being via submission and 17 of those submissions were armbars. Pretty much if she gets an armbar locked in, it's over. Her two losses were to Mai Ichii by decision and Hisae Watanabe by knockout.
You wont be seeing her in the ring anytime soon though. Back in January, it was announced that Satoko is pregnant.
On this blog we have had fitness models, bodybuilders, fitness competitors, swimmers and now here is a lady we can add to the list of MMA fighters we have had here. This beautiful young lady is Michelle Waterson. She is a native of Aurora, Colorado and is half American and half Thai. Michelle took her first karate class at the age of ten and she hasn't looked back since. She has been a bikini model, she was in Oxygen's "Fight Girls" (she was defeated by Ardra Fernandez in the fourth episode), she's been a Hooters girl and a spokes model. Michelle has a black belt in karate, and trains in MMA, Wushu and Muay Thai.

And continuing with the policy of Asian fitness women from all walks of life, today we have Megumi Fujii. "Mega Megu" was born on April 26, 1974 in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. She is considered one of the best female MMA fighters in the world. And why not? She got her martial arts training from Hiroyuki Abe and Josh Barnett. Megumi has 16 wins (13 by submission, 3 by decision) and no losses. Her first MMA fight was against Yumi Matsumoto on August 5th, 2004 at the Smackgirl - Holy Land Triumphal Return event. You know I joke sometimes about how a lot of these models have long resumes. Well this one is long and it isn't a joke. This lady may be an evolutionary jump in the human race. Elaine Kwon is a...... Five-time US National Tae Kwon Do Champion. (She now studies Shaolin Kung Fu at the USA Shaolin Temple in New York. I guess Tae Kwon Do got too easy for her?) Fitness model for Nike Asia and Bodybow Fashion Model, (Vogue, Elle, InStyle, Ahead magazines) Concert Pianist, she debuted with the Washington-Idaho Symphony at the age of 15! MIT Professor, she has her Doctorate of Musical Arts with highest honors from Boston University. TV host of ImaginAsian TV. I full expected to see part time crime fighter listed there.
